From the point of view of conventional medicine, all the headaches listed above fall into the category of ‘benign headaches’. ‘Malignant’ headaches are those caused by brain tumours, aneurysm, intracranial hypertension, etc. By the time patients come to homeopathy, these should have been ruled out by an MRI scan if clinically suspected. Benign headaches (tension headaches, migraines etc.) are usually treated with pain killers. Many patients recognise that this doesn’t solve the underlying problem and are looking for a deeper cure.

In my understanding, chronic benign headaches are a manifestation of an imbalance in the whole body and are often linked to an imbalance in another area such as the digestive or hormonal system.

In other cases, headaches can be a reflection of deep unhealed emotional tensions, which are often subconscious.

In a homeopathic consultation we look at the whole human being in order to understand the subtle symptoms manifest in all systems of the body. This gives a deeper picture of the mental-emotional landscape which can then be used to find a remedy that can treat the body’s imbalance in its entirety.

Homeopathic medicines do not create dependency. The aim is to make the patient independent of any medication, including homeopathic.
